During major audition seasons such as this one we are about to enter into, pilot season, it is extremely important and valuable to you and your career that you have everything up to date on all of your different forms of self-promotion. This means headshots, resumes, Instagram, Facebook fan pages and your website all have to say the same thing as the other and they all have to be on point. Your self-promotion can be a very powerful tool, it can help you substantially, but it can also hurt you when it isn’t set up properly, has missing information, or is otherwise incomplete.
Your online presence needs to match what you have on your resume and headshot perfectly and it all needs to be constantly updated. If you have taken a new class, ESPECIALLY in this day and age where the stress is being put more and more on training, you need to be able to show that to Casting Directors, and anyone else that might need the information (producer, director, etc…) this comes from your resume, but it also comes from online.
You need to constantly be checking up on your Casting Frontier, Actors Access, IMDB, and website profiles to make sure that they all have the correct information about you. If you take a serious workshop in Alexander Technique, it may work amazingly for you and really show in your work, but if you don’t have it on your resume, someone will look at you and wonder how you are so trained when you never got any training; it won’t add up.
Do yourself a major favor, make booking work that much easier, and keep your stuff up to date at all times!
