Being an artist is amazing. Being able to follow your dreams and create things that are important to you and mean something real are great reasons to pursue your passion and be an artist as your choice of career. There can also be some trying times. Thee are the times of rejection, where you may feel like there isn’t a lot going on for you, or that there is too much to deal with and the losses are outweighing the wins. If you ever experience a feeling like this, here is something I want you to remember:

You need to enjoy the wins of your career. No matter how “small” they may be. I say this in quotations because there is no such thing as a small win. Any time you book a job as an actor it’s a big deal, it doesn’t matter the size of the job or who is doing it, where it is, what it pays. When you are in the beginning stages of your career you want to WORK and you want to WORK no matter what. Any job is a good job, and almost any footage (that is in focus and lit well enough to be seen) is good footage for you to have!

When you have something good happen in your career, you need to acknowledge it and make sure you carry it with you as something good to remember and think about to lift yourself up and up anytime you need it, and even in the times you don’t necessarily need it, when it is just nice to remember that you have done really well.

Enjoy your wins in this business because they are worth it! This is why we do what we do as actors, writers, storytellers because we want to get our message out there and communicated to an audience. The only way to do that is to keep going! So remember when you achieve great things because that is what will help you to always keep going!
