Thursday night I was lucky enough to attend the screening of our lovely client Jade Pettyjohn’s movie Girl Flu. This is a great film and is absolutely killing it at film festivals pretty much across the boards. With such an important message to get out there, and such a completely strong and fitting cast it is not surprising that the film is doing so well. They screened the film at the SAG/AFTRA building on Wilshire in the special screening room (which is totally great and if you haven’t been, I would highly suggest it!) and did a little Q&A after the film with Dorie Barton (director), Jade Pettyjohn (lead), Diego Josef (supporting), and Heather Matarazzo (supporting).
I am excited to share the great information I was lucky enough to listen in on in this Q&A. There were tons of great pieces of truth, anecdotes, and words of wisdom from all involved and I think it is very important to support the arts and your fellow artists in this way. This blog will be released on Monday, along with some special quotes from the cast. I am excited for this movie to be getting the publicity it has been because it is such a real, raw subject and so many people, men and women alike, can relate.
What I took away from this experience the most is how important it is to support indie projects and making sure that you are going to screenings and supporting friends, colleagues, and fellow artists. That is the only thing that will encourage people to keep building their own worlds and stories and telling the stories that are important to them, what really matters! We are lucky to be the storytellers of this world, and it is our job to make sure the stories are told right! Keep the dream of the actor and artist alive and support what matters to you!
