Something that annoys me to hear is the common phrase “it takes time.” There are so many reasons I hate hearing this but one of the biggest ones is that it is so vague and can be construed in a million different ways. So it is really just a matter of figuring out how you want to take it and going with that.

What does this mean; “it takes time?” How much time? Why does it have to take time? People sometimes say that you won’t have the career or your dreams overnight, and that “nothing” happens overnight, but it’s simply untrue. I know people, more than one, PERSONALLY, who booked their first jobs as regulars on TV shows, and a lead in a major studio production. They had not been auditioning for long, something came up, they were right for it, and they got the job.

That is all it takes. It takes you, putting in hard work and doing your best job every audition you get, every opportunity you get, and make sure you are proud of what you are putting out there into the world. That is all the time it takes. It takes as long as you decide it will and as long as you consider it will. There is no such thing as a normal way of “making it” in your career and everyone has their own path in this industry. Make yours exactly how you want it to be!
