If you are SAG/AFTRA, first of all, that is amazing. Being a part of SAG is no small deal, in fact it is one of the biggest deals that an actor can have. It is no easy feat joining the union. You have to book jobs, work, pay your dues (literally and figuratively) and there’s a lot of blood, sweat, and tears that goes into it. So if you have your membership card that is awesome. If you are still working towards getting your SAG card, just carry on and know that with enough hard work and dedication it will happen for you.

     SAG/AFTRA is great for many, many reasons. One of the main reasons I love the union is because of everything they offer to their members. From classes, to seminars, to discounts at restaurants, SAG/AFTRA has it all. They even put on events for their members such as Orientation and Health Fair. Admittedly, I was a union member for a long time before I started to take advantage of everything they had to offer, but now that I have started to, I am never going to be able to look back.

     The events that SAG holds are super great and useful. You can find them easily online and RSVP there if you are a member, sometimes you can bring a guest. I would highly suggest attending any event that you possibly can at SAG/AFTRA. When you are able to attend an event, you are likely to not only have a great time but it can also be a great networking opportunity. Attending these events and get-togethers can be super beneficial for you because you never know who you are going to meet and what information could possibly change your life!

     If you or someone you know is a part of the union then you should definitely be attending these events. Getting in touch with your Union and making sure you know about everything that is going on is an excellent way to take charge of your career and make it happen. Enjoy!
