At a certain stage in your career, the main thing you should be concerning yourself with is getting yourself known by anyone and everyone you can in the industry. When you are starting out, you need to make yourself known to casting directors, agents, managers, and directors. If you don’t have representation yet or don’t really have a resume built up, you should be focusing on giving yourself a great education as an actor and preparing yourself for success.

Building your resume, putting together a demo reel, and making yourself as “cast-able” as possible is as easy as getting yourself a membership to an acting website and submit yourself away! You need to be able to teach yourself all about the industry and the best way to do that is to get yourself experience in the audition room, and if possible, on set! Auditioning for everything you possibly can is one of the best things you can do for yourself when you are just starting out!

You need to get yourself out there and introduce yourself to as many industry people and situations as possible. This is because the more you network and get to know not only the people of the industry but also the industry itself, the easier it will be on you later on in your career when you are auditioning for bigger roles and have representation. Getting the “getting to know people” part of acting out of the way early is a great thing to do for yourself because it will then make you more familiar to any casting directors, and that makes them more inclined to see you for roles!

So if you are just starting out, know that there is a lot of work to be done and that it can      all be done in a way that is fun and fast for you! Get yourself out there and make yourself known to the industry, as the artist you want to be, and eventually, it will be the artist that you actually ARE!
