If you grew up in LA, you probably have a lot of friends who are in the industry and you probably keep meeting people who are in the industry and working a lot. If you didn’t grow up in Los Angeles, you probably came here and met a ton of people at different social events and gatherings. Here are some of the important reasons you should be keeping in touch with the actors, filmmakers, and other people of the industry that you come across in your walk of life!
• To see how life is playing out for the people around you. It is important to know how your old friends are doing. The more successful they become, the better chances (I feel like, at least) you have of becoming successful as well! You want to see how they are doing and make sure you support them in their artistic endeavors. You never know when you’ll need the support right back.
• For the support! When you flow love and support to your friends in the industry, they give it right back to you. There’s no better feeling in the world than recognizing yourself for the true awesome powerhouse you are, and secondary to that is having other people who see you for it, love you for it, and support you because of it!
• For the projects. If your friends are in the industry they are going to be posting about their projects that they are working on. If they have something you can help them out with, no matter what work you do for them, it will all even out in the end. A boom mic here and there, and next thing you know they will be supporting you in your own next endeavor.
So there you go, people! Reasons to stay in touch with the lovely LA people you meet and make sure that they know you love to help other artists pave their own roads and make their own path. Support your friends, and you just might be very happily surprised with the love and support you will get back.
