Last night some friends of mine premiered their very first feature film at LA Film School! It was something I was adamant on being there because as a filmmaker, I knew that I would have a lot to learn and be inspired by from their film. I brought some friends along with me and we all attended this very exciting moment in the lives of young filmmakers. The film came out great, and it was extremely inspiring to see it.

The inspiration you get from seeing your friends achieve their goals in a similar field to your own is something indescribable. There is something amazing about seeing a finished product that people you know made from start to finish on a small budget, with a small crew, and all of the love and hard work in the world. It really proves the point that you don’t need a multimillion-dollar budget and a big production company backing you to realize your film. All you actually need is the drive to get it done.

From watching their film I learned quite a few things. I came out of the experience thinking, “I need to get one of my projects made NOW.” I also remembered that all it takes to do what you love is persistence. We don’t make movies or act for fame and big budget projects (although no one is complaining about the big budget projects!) we do it because it is what we love, and if you keep that in mind while you make your project, that you are doing this because it is what fulfills you, the product you will get will do so much more than effect people in an audience, it could change your outlook on life.

It is always great to help a fellow artist and filmmaker out and you never know when you will need the support back, but my guess (and hope for you) is that you are constantly giving and getting support from your fellow artists and filmmakers. There is no way to make it in this industry without making friends along the way so make sure you are supporting the artists you know already and help yourself out in the long run by helping them out now! Enjoy your friends’ art!
