As an actor you need to be doing everything you can to get recognition in the industry. This means building a following for yourself any way that you can! When you can reach a lot of people in the industry, you are more likely to make connections that will lead to jobs and more friends in the industry. When you have a lot of industry friends, you are liable to have a lot more going on for you in the acting world and the world of film works. When you have as much social outreach as you possibly can, you make yourself far more accessible to agents, managers, and most importantly, jobs. Something that I have seen a lot of actors do to get themselves out there these past few months is creating blogs.

     Blogs are a great way to get your story out into the public. This works especially well when you have a story that you think is unique to the industry, and there are a million different unique stories. Are you someone who is tall? Short? Do you have green eyes or brown eyes? Is your experience as a woman different than how you’ve seen men? Are you an LA native or did you migrate? Any experience is one that someone could relate to, and if you are telling interesting stories in a way that people are ABLE to relate to, you should have no issue gaining a following.

     When it comes to blogs, the most important part and the best way to gain a following is promoting yourself. You have to promote your blog and get your friends to read it, like it, and share it. Being comfortable with sharing your story with the people you know is a really important step of having a blog. If you can’t share your work with people you know and trust, you may want to think twice about posting it online. You have to make sure that you are happy with being known by that content, so make sure that whatever it is you are posting makes sense to the career path that you are carving out for yourself. For example, if you want to be a Disney Star, you probably shouldn’t be posting blogs about the crazy party you went to at the Playboy Mansion last week (shout out to the Playboy Mansion which is being sold).

     Make a blog if you have a fun adventure that you want to share, and get your stories out there.
