Recently our friend Gabbi Welch took to the streets. She was accompanied by her husband Ben and their friend Travis, as well as 2 acoustic guitars and a very somber tambourine.

This is the musical project known as Count. They were in Downtown Los Angeles to shoot a music video for their folky and ethereal cover of “Dancing in the Dark” by Bruce Springsteen.

The whole video was shot in one take, giving opportunity for spontaneous delights. In this case, the unscripted spontaneity came from an extraordinarily kind man named Daryl who straight up proposed to Gabbi at 2:25 in the video, showing us proof that good old fashioned courtship is still the greatest charmer of all. You can see it below:

Gabbi, a rather angelic soul, extended a kingly gesture once they were done shooting: she brought her musicians back to Daryl and gave him a private concert. In this case, she blessed him with a rendition of Whitney Houston’s “Dance with Somebody” that would make Calexico, Jim White, and David Gray defile their pants.

The song is completely beautiful, but it’s a consolation prize compared to the game-changing impact it made upon Daryl, clearly causing him to run a gauntlet of emotions. Needless to say, we’re pretty sure this experience will occupy his thoughts for a long time to come. Pretty touching stuff, folks.

Enjoy:
