In this world of DIY where everyone now has a web series, Instagram series, HBO special, or otherwise, it is important that if you have an idea and want to get it made, you carry it through to a full done! Making your own content is an amazing experience professionally and can be extremely rewarding in more than one way. Something that concerns a lot of first timers is the need for a lot of money to make their project become a reality, so I’m here to lend a helping hand to those of you who want to make your dreams come true. Here are some tips on how to get your film funded!
1) DIY: Gather all of your resources from your cast, crew, friends and family members (and of course, yourself) and see what you come up with. This works best with a smaller scale project because SAG waivers can be pretty expensive.
2) KickStarter: A website that can be very beneficial to get your project funded, this works best when you are active on social media with new posts about your campaign every single day, continuing on asking people to do more.
3) GoFundMe: The same idea as Kickstarter, this website also gives you the ability to get your project out there to the public and ask for their help in making your dreams come true!
4) Pitch Your Project: Go to your agent, manager, literally anyone you know of in the industry and pitch your idea to them, ask them for their advice on how to get it made and see if it is something that they can help with or want to be a part of.
There are so many ways to get your project funded it’s not even funny. You can make the art you want to make without having to worry about money; all it takes is a bit of hard work and a lot of dedication.
