Throughout my time in Los Angeles as an actor, I have run into a lot of things that people believe to be true that turn out to actually not be true at all. They are also things that could possibly be detrimental to your career so I have found it is important to get things like this cleared up as fast as possible so that there is no chance of your career being affected by them! Here are two of those things:

-You need expensive headshots: FALSE!
You need great headshots. This doesn’t mean that they have to be expensive (but it can mean that). You want photos that represent who you are and show your personality. If you have a friend, family member, or photographer you want to use that doesn’t charge you an arm and a leg, there is absolutely no harm in getting some rad photos from them! What matters is that you feel comfortable with the photographer and that you are happy with the results!

-Method Acting is what real actors do: FALSE!
Yes, there are a lot of successful actors who prescribe to the ideas of Method Acting, but this has nothing to do with YOU and your abilities as an actor. You need to find what works for you personally. I would suggest reading plenty of books and really educating yourself on the different types of acting before jumping into any one of them. There are so many highly successful actors who are not “Method” the number is too high to count. Figure out what is right for you and do that.
