I recently decided to sign up for an online audition technique class and have been taking it for the past couple of days. I figured it would be interesting and did not know what to expect out of it. I know how to audition (I’ve been doing it for about 15 years now…) and feel comfortable in an audition room 99% of the time. For the most part, I walk out the audition room feeling proud of my work and that I have made a friend and a fan out the casting director. I decided that there is always room for improvement and that this could be a good idea to try out, so here I am.
There is always more to learn, and this class showed that to me! The class is delivered by a casting director (when I have finished the class and fully formed an opinion on it I will share all of the info!) and she has a lot of great input on the do’s and don’ts of auditions! I always want to walk out of the audition room feeling amazing and like I did the best job ever. Even when I don’t book the role, I want to know that I did everything I possibly could to be the best choice for the part.
If you find yourself feeling upset after any auditions, or even simply that you don’t have a completely full grasp on what it takes to be an auditioning actor in the industry, then I would suggest taking an audition technique class! I think there are always things that you can learn and there is always room for growth as an actor and as an artist!
