When you walk into an audition room, the only thing you can do that will instantly mess you up is refuse to be yourself and act unnaturally. You could walk in, trip, and fall straight onto your face the moment you walked in and your audition would be completely salvaged if you whipped something clever up as soon as it happened that only you could think of.

      This is exactly what makes you unique as an actor; your ability to be YOURSELF! Every great actor leaves a small piece of themselves in the character they are playing. They need to be able to find common points of reality between themselves and the character so that they can best portray the life and scenarios of this person.

      There is an art form of its own in this idea of leaving a piece of yourself in every character, but for now, the subject that I am most interested in is being yourself when you meet people in the industry that you need to make a lasting impression on. Casting Directors, Directors, Agents, Managers, Producers, and anyone else who could help you in your career, are important people to you. They should be people that you want to remember and be remembered by.

      A quality that is always admired in people is their authenticity, this is what makes people remember you! The only way to be authentic is to be yourself. So make sure you are remembered and make sure you are being yourself when you walk into a meeting, audition, or any job you book!
