Sometimes you go through a slow season as an actor; a time where you don’t get any auditions for a week or two, or maybe just a few. These times can be upsetting, or boring, but mostly it’s the perfect time to change something or try something new! When you have a slower season, it’s the perfect time to take charge of your career and look at what works for you and what doesn’t. This can be working on your own project, taking a new class, but something fun and beneficial to do every six months or so is to get new headshots taken.
When you go through the year you can look at your different headshots and see what has been working for you and what hasn’t very easily. Just look at the amount of auditions you have had with the headshots you are using! If you realize that after some time, you have been getting more auditions with previous headshots or that you don’t really look like what your photos portray, then it is time for some new ones.
The best way to get a photographer to take your pictures is to ask your agent or manager whom they suggest. This gives you something to update them on, as well as an opportunity to take their advice. When you get those new headshots from the person that your agent suggested and send them over, it will make them happy to see the beautiful outcome that they were (of course) right about! Then you will see if your new headshots help you by keeping your statistics going!
