In the industry, one of the most important things you have is your contacts. You could have zero talent, no car, no head shots, no hope of anything. But if you have the right contacts in that situation, you could still make it. That’s theoretical of corse but it should give you an idea of how important your contacts are.

Recently I went to a brunch with some friends I had made during a class. They, being fellow actors, had some fun stories and interesting tidbits on things that were cool to find out. But more importantly, other than hanging out with friends, it was basically networking. One of my friends offered up that she had been working PA on a set and that they needed to fill some small speaking roles. That’s a big deal for a feature. Another friend invited us all to a production agency opening, whose only goal is to encourage and aide emerging film makers.

It’s important to remember to make friends everywhere you go. Never, EVER, treat people like they are less than you because you never know who will be the next Scorsese (also it’s just cool to be a decent human being to everyone you meet). Life is a stage when you are an actor especially. So always be ready to meet and greet where ever you go!
