Sometimes you’ll go on an audition and think that you for sure book to the part. You’ll get a call back and think that it’s so fitting because you had a great audition and you think you’re perfect for it. But for some reason you just don’t book it. There’s two options here…

You can sit and wonder why you didn’t get it. You can imagine crazy reasons about the things that are wrong with you that would prevent you from booking the role. You can dwell on your past auditions.
You can realize that casting isn’t always about the acting and is primarily about the actors.

Now, what I mean in the second point is that the casting director has a difficult job. They have to figure out not only who is a good enough actor to play the role, but also, which actors will work well with each other, have great chemistry, and work well together based off of each other’s looks. There’s 1 million reasons that you didn’t book the roles that you didn’t book. It could be as simple as you were too tall, or too short, or had a voice that wouldn’t sound good next to another actor’s voice. It’s not up to you to think about why you don’t book (unless you know that you’re doing something wrong in the audition room) but it is up to you to think about all the possibilities that you can of booking. Being an actor has a lot of ups and downs, but to make it worthwhile you should always stay focused on the ups!
