Thousands flock to LA in hopes of booking a pilot during pilot season. And thank goodness “reality TV” is sinking and networks are once again aiming to make real television shows.

As an actor, here are things you will want in order to prep for pilot season…

#1) Fresh headshots.

If you have been using the same headshots for more than a year, it’s time to get them updated. Like any promo it wears out, and casting directors like to see that you are still creating on your marketing. Fresh headshots mean you’re professional.

Walk fresh headshots into your agent’s office and manager. Do this in the afternoon when they are more likely to be able to see you when you walk in.

#2) Keep your skills sharp and active by getting into a class or seminar.

Its a matter of keeping sharp and involved. Find a class that you enjoy and find helpful.

#3) Make class clips or bad quality projects. These should be co-starring or guest starring or lead or supporting roles on projects that would show up on imdb.com

#5) Make sure you have a strong web presence. This means a website with pictures, bio, reels and so forth. If you don’t have a website then you should get one rolling with MyActingSite.com right away.

Why is that important? Producers care about what you bring to the table. Acting wise, professionally and any following you may have. A web presence will show them your level of professionalism. And when it comes down to it… trust me they will search you online.

Now go break a leg!
