This week I saw a show at the Lillian Theatre on Santa Monica called “You’re Welcome: Celebrity Self Help with Pyotr and Grimsley”. Some Groundlings old-timers and teachers performed it with some lovely and amazing special guests. It was so entertaining and felt great supporting someone who has helped so many other actors by doing what they love and teaching. I love supporting performers of any kind who are putting up plays or shows in my area. There are so many great and exciting black boxes and small theatres to go see great shows at.

I went to this show with a friend who has taken his classes before at Groundlings. She really enjoyed seeing him perform from that standpoint of having learned these things from him already and getting to see him put everything in action and to use. Something I’ve always thought very important in finding a good improv or comedy coach is that they are good at improv or comedy. The best way to find that out is to see them perform. He was amazing.

This was overall a pretty eye opening experience in relation to why it is important to support your local artists and why it is of such extreme value to see any teachers or coaches you have perform. Support the people who support you and what goes around will come back around sooner than you know it!
