A domain name is the string of characters that makes any website memorable – or completely forgettable. It’s an address of sorts, being that you’ll have to type this particular set of characters into your web browser in order to access the site.

For example: If you want to visit Apple’s website, you go to www.apple.com. If you want to go to Microsoft’s website, you visit www.microsoft.com. These are memorable, simple.

Other domains are not so memorable. My cousin Bob has an private loans company, the slogan for which is, “Before you hobnob with the mob, call Bob.” Subsequently, his website domain is www.NoMobHobnobsWithBob.com. Yerg.

As an actor, this is a painfully important factor. Your first choice is ALWAYS www.yourname.com. Many companies that offer acting websites simply LOVE to squeeze their name into your domain, i.e., yourname.theircompanyname.com. Or worse yet, www.theircompanyname.com/2Q445wHy1S7hIS/LOL/yourname.

No bueno.

Our recommendation is to run to your nearest domain registrar and register your name before someone else gets it. My personal favorite is enom.com, in case you’re looking for suggestions.

Of course if you sign up with MyActingSite.com, we will do it for you.

Get on the good foot!
