Something that comes as a valuable lesson to any actor in their career is when they learn the value of organization. This isn’t organizing the inside of your closet, or your files, or even taxes. This organization for actors is all about auditions. When you audition you don’t always get the notice that you would like to have. Sometimes you find out about an audition the night before, and sometimes it’s a week in advance. There’s also instances that I have encountered of having longer and even shorter times to prepare.

This is where being organized comes in and where the phrase “early bird gets the worm” rings a bell. What happens when you get a six page audition on Monday and you find out about it on Saturday, if you put that off, you won’t be able to prepare for the three page audition that is also taking place on Monday that you found out about on Sunday night. This is a real life example because it happened to me! Thankfully I was smart enough to start preparing my audition the second I got it. And by the time I got the second audition, I basically had the first one down. It was a zero stress situation which is something that I find every actor needs and would also just like to have.

When you get an audition make sure that you start preparing for it as soon as possible! You never know when another one could come around!
